The second annual Butterfly Run Kelowna is set for Oct. 5.

The registered charity hosts the memorial walk and run to create a supportive space for mourning parents while raising awareness around infertility, pregnancy loss, and infant loss.

Co-chair of the run Courtney Hiller knows firsthand the importance of community after loss.

"In 2021, my husband Jasyn and I faced the heartbreaking loss of our son, Luca. That experience has deeply influenced our journey, leading us to support the Okanagan community through the Butterfly Run Kelowna. I firmly believe that healing happens in community, and this event aims to bring people together to support one another."

The family event will include local artists Aidan Mayes and Dan Tait performing their personal songs of loss. Food trucks will be set up with a portion of the money being donated to the charity.

Funds raised at the event will go back into the community supporting initiatives like group counselling, individual counselling, and the distribution of bereavement boxes to local hospitals.

The run takes place in City Park starting at 9 a.m. is open online.
