Chief administrative officer Kelly Bennett announces her departure after 11 years with the District of Sicamous.

The District of Sicamous will be undergoing a transition at the top with the announcement that chief administrative officer Kelly Bennett will be leaving.

In a June 13 media release, the district "bids farewell" to Bennett after 11 years on staff.

"I am grateful for my time at the District of Sicamous and will truly miss being part of such a great team and community," she said in the release. "Several large projects are currently in progress, and I am dedicated to ensuring a successful transition."

Bennett joined the district as chief financial officer in 2013, and was appointed to her current role of CAO in 2022 following the departure of Evan Parliament. Since then, she has played a pivotal role in advancing some large projects, such as the start of construction on the new Shuswap (Secwépemc) Healing Centre and the development of long-term rental housing at 425 Main Street.

Throughout her tenure, Bennett has also helped bring a number of council initiatives and projects to fruition, including the modernization of Sicamous branding, the formation of the Sicamous Development Corporation and the establishment of the Community Health Centre.

In that time, she has also worked with four of the seven current council members over multiple terms of office, including Mayor Colleen Anderson.

"On behalf of council, staff and the community, I would like to thank CAO Kelly Bennett for her dedicated service to the District of Sicamous. We have truly been fortunate to have Kelly on our team," Anderson said. "To Kelly and family, thank you for being such a big part of our community. We wish all the very best in your future endeavours."

Bennett's last day will be Friday, Aug. 9, before which she will help recruit her successor to ensure a smooth transition after her departure.
