From the backyard to the wilds of B.C., two Okanagan photographers captured some of the best nature photos in the BC SPCA's 16th annual Wildlife-in-Focus competition.
Bruce Turnbull from Penticton took first place in the Backyard Habitats category, and Ashley Giovannini of Kelowna took second place in the Wild Settings category.

Turnbull's photo captured a Northern flicker feeding its offspring as they poke their heads out of their home in a tree.
"Wildlife photography is a passion of mine, as is studying the wildlife I photograph and learning about the challenges they face," said Turnbull. "Supporting organizations like the BC SPCA含羞草研究社檚 Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (Wild ARC) who protect and help our wildlife is very important to me and I am glad my photo helped to raise much needed funds for the organization.含羞草研究社�
The other top photos in the Backyard Habitats category were Lesley Carere from North Saanich with a photo of a Rufous hummingbird and Rosalind LeBlanc from Vancouver with a photo of a group of ducklings resting on a log and a turtle.
The top three shots of the Wild Settings category were Janine Brooke from North Vancouver's photo of a coyote hunting in the mashes, Giovannini's photo capturing a pair of grizzly bears, and Sebastian Nadeau from Squamish's Pygmy owl photo.
People's Choice aware went to Sam Gorick from Mill Bay's photo of a raccoon.
The 12 photos that received the most votes along with the top three winners in each category will be featured in a limited-edition Wildlife-in-Focus pack of greeting cards.
