Drinks and drugs saw two drivers temporarily taken off the road in Sicamous for being under the influence. 

On Sept. 15 at 11:30 p.m., the "heavy illegal tint" on a driver's window first caught the attention of an officer as the vehicle drove away from a gas station in town. 

"A traffic stop was conducted and the officer observed drug paraphernalia in plain view next to the driver," Sgt. Murray McNeil said in a media release. "The driver showed signs of impairment and he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle located a small amount of methamphetamine."

The driver was issued a 24-hour suspension and and given 30 days to remove the window tint from the truck, which was towed from the scene.  

On Sept. 18, Sicamous RCMP responded to a tip of a possibly impaired driver in a panel van on Highway 97A near Swansea Point. 

The attending officer located the van pulled over on the side of the highway with a man in the driver's seat.

"The officer detected a strong odour of liquor on the driver and a breath remand was read," McNeil said. 

Two samples were provided, which resulted in "Fail" readings, with the driver given a 90-day driving prohibition and his van impounded for 30.
