A train derailment east of Revelstoke resulted in two crew members being sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred approximately 13 kilometres outside of Revelstoke around 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.
Four rail cars carrying grain derailed when they made contact with a stopped train, explained Canadian Pacific Kansas City spokesperson Terry Cunha in a statement to the media.
Cunha said one of the crew members has been released from hospital.
Revelstoke Fire Chief Steven De Rousie said the department received a call around 10:15 p.m. from dispatch, questioning if the incident fell within fire department含羞草研究社檚 service area.
含羞草研究社淏ecause of our fire protection area, we含羞草研究社檙e not permitted to send the city fire [department] beyond the boundaries含羞草研究社 we were unable to provide a fire response to that,含羞草研究社 said De Rousie.
De Rousie said some citizens were worried about Revelstoke含羞草研究社檚 water supply.
含羞草研究社淎s far as I含羞草研究社檓 aware, there was no threat to the city含羞草研究社檚 water supply,含羞草研究社 said De Rousie.
CPKC said it had crews at the derailment site working on clean up, and that a related fire had been extinguished.
In a phone interview, Transportation Safety Board (TSB) ccommunications coordinator Liam MacDonald said they were still monitoring the incident but had not deployed investigators.
The TSB was, however, investigating a separate train incident that occurred in Field on Saturday, Feb. 17.
含羞草研究社淚t was reported to us that there was a parked train on the main track含羞草研究社 the second train was passing through a siding to pass the main train and during that passing it derailed and several cars had derailed upright, some of them leaning onto the parked train,含羞草研究社 said MacDonald.
MacDonad said there were no reports of fires or leaked dangerous goods, but the TSB was deploying two investigators to the site to assess the situation.
