A Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officer took not one, but three drivers off the road for impaired driving in a four-hour span last weekend. 

The officer was stationed in Armstrong for the night, Saturday, Sept. 21. At around 10 p.m., after conducting proactive traffic enforcement, they stopped a vehicle on Mill Street for a sobriety check. While interacting with the driver, the officer formed the opinion that the driver was impaired. A breathalyser test yielded a warn reading which meant that an issuance of a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and vehicle impoundment was issued.

One hour later, the same officer conducted a sobriety test for a driver travelling on Rosedale Avenue. After being read the mandatory alcohol screening demand, the driver provided two sample of both, both resulting in a fail. The driver was then issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and her vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

Just over two hours later, at 1:20 a.m., a man driving a pickup truck on Wood Ave.b was stopped by police. During the interaction, the officer formed the opinion that the man was under the influence of cannabis, and a sobriety test was given. He was issued a 24-hour prohibition for being impaired by drugs and his vehicle was impounded.

"Our officers are committed to keeping our streets and communities safe and will continue to target and remove impaired drivers from our roads. Please do your part; make responsible choices and never drive impaired."
