A Greater Victoria mom en route to Mexico without her son含羞草研究社檚 medication posted a 含羞草研究社榟ail Mary含羞草研究社 in a local social media group early one recent morning. Her online plea was answered by West Shore resident Marina Miller, who sprung into action and arranged to have the medication waiting for the family at their hotel. (Kirsten Marten/Facebook)

Marina Miller found herself texting with a stranger at 5 a.m.

It was a conversation that veered into funny, with a fellow Greater Victoria resident a little frazzled and anxious, travelling with family on what should be the start of a fabulous Mexico vacation.

Except Kirsten Marten had forgotten to bring her youngest son含羞草研究社檚 medication with her.

Marten threw up a 含羞草研究社榟ail Mary含羞草研究社 on social media, posting her dilemma on a mom含羞草研究社檚 group in hopes someone might be headed their way that day or the next.

Miller, home in Victoria含羞草研究社檚 West Shore saw the post. Being awake that early isn含羞草研究社檛 unusual for Miller, who became a mom at 25 when she took legal charge and became a parent to her five half-siblings. Marten含羞草研究社檚 bright and bold plea stood out and Miller realized she had the skills to help.

She found and purchased the required medication, and arranged to have it waiting at the hotel when Marten含羞草研究社檚 family arrived in Mexico to start their holiday. They return this week, but Marten was so grateful and overwhelmed she thanked her new acquaintance publicly, in the same format she reached out in the first place.

Miller含羞草研究社檚 day had been busy and the 5 a.m. adventure forgotten, until she got on social media that evening and found an effusive thank you.

The online kudos earned hearts, love and awe in the comment section.

含羞草研究社淧eople shouldn含羞草研究社檛 be shocked at what I did,含羞草研究社 Miller told Black Press Media. 含羞草研究社淚f you can be helpful, be helpful and if you can含羞草研究社檛, stand back for someone who can.含羞草研究社

Life is experiences and hers meant she knew exactly how to handle the situation.

含羞草研究社淲e have to, as people, understand it含羞草研究社檚 action that makes change,含羞草研究社 she said.

Little acts of kindness 含羞草研究社 and there are many in Miller含羞草研究社檚 life 含羞草研究社 can have a ripple effect. When you help someone, you never know who they含羞草研究社檙e connected to, who else it might impact now and in the future. They含羞草研究社檙e not about recognition, she said.

含羞草研究社淲e live in a time when we want to be recognized for every good thing. We don含羞草研究社檛 need recognition, we should just work on doing what含羞草研究社檚 right. I含羞草研究社檇 do that thing whether you含羞草研究社檙e looking at me or not.含羞草研究社
