In an attempt to keep busy during the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of South Surrey seniors have taken time to offer advice to a younger generation of local residents.

This month, a number of residents of Peninsula Retirement Residence (2088 152 St.) have created signs with their name, age and words of wisdom 含羞草研究社� everything from 含羞草研究社淪top and smell the roses含羞草研究社� and 含羞草研究社淪tart each day with a smile含羞草研究社� to 含羞草研究社淯se common sense含羞草研究社� and 含羞草研究社淒on含羞草研究社檛 take yourself so seriously.含羞草研究社�

The photos have been posted on the retirement community含羞草研究社檚 so that others 含羞草研究社� including, perhaps, family members who haven含羞草研究社檛 been able to visit due to social-distancing rules 含羞草研究社� can see.

The idea for the project came from the residence含羞草研究社檚 recreation assistant Miranda Clark 含羞草研究社� who is also a Peace Arch News environmental columnist 含羞草研究社� who said she was simply looking for a way for seniors to stay busy and engaged, as many of the Peninsula含羞草研究社檚 usual recreation programs, social hours and other activities have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

含羞草研究社淚 came up with this idea as a way to unite the residents in this time of difficulty and give them something interesting to think about,含羞草研究社� Clark said.

含羞草研究社淎ctivities like this are great for bringing back old memories. In this time, I thought it would also be a great way to also show the important role of seniors in our community.含羞草研究社�

Clark said despite the measures taken as a result of the pandemic, the seniors at the Peninsula are keeping their spirits up 含羞草研究社� 含羞草研究社淲e have been doing pretty well,含羞草研究社� 含羞草研究社� and they all understand and are accepting of the measures that have been taken, both at the residence and elsewhere, in light of the pandemic.

含羞草研究社淓veryone is含羞草研究社� smiling through it all, we are happy to be safe,含羞草研究社� she continued, adding that the seniors are 含羞草研究社渉appily spreading joy despite the fear and sadness of it all.含羞草研究社�
