A Kelowna church sign gets cheeky interpretation

Residents in Rutland are getting the giggles over a query posed by a local church.

The Rutland United Church used a space they usually reserve for service times to offer a more interest piquing sign. 含羞草研究社淓aster comes once a year, how about you?含羞草研究社 it reads.

It appears someone saw some humour in the question and posted their answer on a cardboard sign beneath. It read 含羞草研究社渢hat含羞草研究社檚 personal.含羞草研究社

This caught the attention of a few more people who posted photos of the double entendre to Facebook, and a few more weighed in on what they saw as a risqu茅 joke.

This type of humorous ambiguity is a mainstay in the repetoires of Late Night TV hosts, who get a laugh out of compiling earnestly written community signs that can be interpreted multiple ways.

The Rutland United Church was clearly trying to get people to attend their service on Sundays and not just during religious holidays. It was not intended to be offensive or convey any indelicate subtext.

The sign still remains, but the cardboard portion has been removed and instead the church is encouraging residents to attend the Sunday service at 10 a.m. including on Easter April 16.
