Bass guitarist Herbie Flowers, who played with David Bowie, Elton John, Lou Reed and other music legends in a decades-long career, has died at 86.
The musician含羞草研究社檚 family confirmed his death on Facebook Saturday.
Flowers was a founding member of the pop group Blue Mink, who later joined the rock band T Rex. He won acclaim for his work with many of the biggest names in U.K. music in the 1970s, giving Reed含羞草研究社檚 含羞草研究社淲alk On The Wild Side,含羞草研究社 from the 1972 含羞草研究社淭ransformer含羞草研究社 album, its recognizable twinned bassline.
He also played bass for Bowie含羞草研究社檚 含羞草研究社淪pace Oddity,含羞草研究社 Bryan Ferry含羞草研究社檚 含羞草研究社淭he Bride Stripped Bare,含羞草研究社 and Paul McCartney含羞草研究社檚 含羞草研究社淕ive My Regards To Broad Street,含羞草研究社 and featured in two of John含羞草研究社檚 early 含羞草研究社70s albums, among many others.
In a tribute, Bowie含羞草研究社檚 estate said 含羞草研究社渉is work with Bowie and associates over the years is too long to list here.含羞草研究社
含羞草研究社淎side from his incredible musicianship over many decades, he was a beautiful soul and a very funny man. He will be sorely missed,含羞草研究社 it said.
Tim Burgess, lead singer for The Charlatans singer, said on the social media platform X that Flowers 含羞草研究社渕ade the greats sound greater.含羞草研究社
Flowers also founded the instrumental rock band Sky in the late 1970s, releasing seven albums.
