Residents of a long-term care facility got a sweet Valentine含羞草研究社檚 treat.
Vernon singer-songwriter Andrew Allen stopped by Heron Grove, on 20th Street, Feb. 13, to play some songs for the assisted and independent living, and long-term care residents.
Heron Grove recreation and volunteer coordinator Chris Smith said Allen has a special connection with a Heron Grove resident that spans many years.
含羞草研究社淎midst his busy schedule, he made time to come in and play for us,含羞草研究社 said Smith. 含羞草研究社淎ndrew played some of his classic songs but tried out a few new ones which were all, of course, awesome.含羞草研究社
As an added bonus, Allen played the Paul Simon classic You Can Call Me Al, using his looping pedal to record the song含羞草研究社檚 iconic bass line.
Allen finished the set with Leonard Cohen含羞草研究社檚 timeless song Hallelujah, and an impromptu version of Amazing Grace, as requested by an audience member.
含羞草研究社淎ndrew has such a musical gift and stage presence, but on top of that, he is a caring man who made the time to spread some love this Valentine含羞草研究社檚 season for some seniors in the community,含羞草研究社 said Smith.
Allen was slated to play a Valentine含羞草研究社檚 show in Kelowna Wednesday. He has a couple of concerts in Saskatchewan in May.
