The working title is 含羞草研究社淟ord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum含羞草研究社� and Walsh and Boyens are co-writing the screenplay. The collaboration between Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema is expected to be released in 2026.

De Luca and Abdy said in a statement that this team represents their commitment to excellence in further contributing to the cinematic history of the 含羞草研究社淟ord of the Rings.含羞草研究社�
Jackson, Walsh and Boyens, who consider themselves lifetime scholars of J.R.R. Tolkien含羞草研究社檚 worlds, added that they were looking forward to traveling back to Middle-earth with Serkis, 含羞草研究社渨ho has unfinished business with that Stinker - Gollum!含羞草研究社�
The studio also has the animated fantasy 含羞草研究社淭he Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim含羞草研究社� arriving in theaters in December.
