Scholastic announced Thursday that 含羞草研究社淪unrise on the Reaping,含羞草研究社� the fifth volume of Collins含羞草研究社� blockbuster dystopian series, will be published March 18, 2025. The new book begins with the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games, set 24 years before the original 含羞草研究社淗unger Games含羞草研究社� novel, which came out in 2008, and 40 years after Collins含羞草研究社� most recent book,
Collins has drawn upon Greek mythology and the Roman gladiator games for her earlier 含羞草研究社淗unger Games含羞草研究社� books. But for the upcoming novel, she cites the
含羞草研究社淲ith 含羞草研究社楽unrise on the Reaping,含羞草研究社� I was inspired by David Hume含羞草研究社檚 idea of implicit submission and, in his words, 含羞草研究社榯he easiness with which the many are governed by the few,含羞草研究社櫤卟菅芯可鐫 Collins said in a statement. 含羞草研究社淭he story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. Film rights have not yet been announced. All four previous books have been a multibillion dollar franchise for Lionsgate that featured portraying heroine Katniss Everdeen in the film versions of 含羞草研究社淭he Hunger Games,含羞草研究社� 含羞草研究社淐atching Fire含羞草研究社� and 含羞草研究社淢ockingjay,含羞草研究社� the last of which came out in two installments.
The first four 含羞草研究社淗unger Games含羞草研究社� books have sold more than 100 million copies and been translated into dozens of languages. Collins had seemingly ended the series after the 2010 publication of 含羞草研究社淢ockingjay,含羞草研究社� writing in 2015 that it was 含羞草研究社渢ime to move on to other lands.含羞草研究社� But four years later, she stunned readers and the publishing world she was working on what became 含羞草研究社淭he Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,含羞草研究社� and set 64 years before the first book.
