UPDATE: Kelowna RCMP confirm 2 dead in Adams Road incident, investigation ongoing

UPDATE 1:42 p.m.

The Kelowna RCMP have confirmed two people are dead as a result of the incident in the 100-block of Adams Road.

含羞草研究社淭his is an isolated incident and no public are at risk. The Kelowna Serious Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation and will be working in partnership with the BC Coroners Service to determine the causes of death,含羞草研究社 said the Kelowna RCMP in a release. 含羞草研究社淎nyone with information regarding this investigation can call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and quote file number # 2024-15930 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at .含羞草研究社

At least one person has died as a result of the incident that took place on Kelowna含羞草研究社檚 Adams Road on Wednesday, Mar. 27.

In a Facebook post made by Jacqueline Kofoed, she confirmed her brother Jeremy Kofoed was shot and killed in Adventure Trucks, the company in which he owned.

含羞草研究社淭his was the tragic result of an argument between Jeremy and a known acquaintance, that escalated to the point of violence,含羞草研究社 Jacqueline said in the Facebook post. 含羞草研究社淎fter Jeremy was shot, it appears the known acquaintance started a fire in the building then took his own life.含羞草研究社

The Kelowna RCMP haven含羞草研究社檛 confirmed any fatalities from the incident at this time. It含羞草研究社檚 also unclear what led to the incident happening.

含羞草研究社淲e are all together, surrounding Jer含羞草研究社檚 family with love and support, trying to make sense of the magnitude of this tragedy,含羞草研究社 continued Jacqueline.

As the incident was taking place on Mar. 27, witnesses told Black Press they heard gun shots in the area. The Kelowna RCMP and tactical Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to the scene, which closed Highway 97 in the area for a few hours.

The Kelowna Fire Department responded to the scene just after 5 p.m. that day as smoke could be seen from the building.

On Thursday, Mar. 28, the RCMP含羞草研究社檚 Serious Crimes Unit took over the investigation, which is still ongoing.

The Kofoed family name has became a staple in Kelowna, as four years ago, Jeremy and Jacqueline含羞草研究社檚 father Jack donated $60,000 to to help complete construction of the new Health Sciences Centre at Okanagan College含羞草研究社檚 Kelowna campus.
