Gas leak prompts evacuation of Vernon residents

Residents at the Strand Lakeside West had to evacuate for two hours

A gas leak at a Vernon resort prompted quick action from Fortis B.C. on Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:50 p.m., residents of the West building at The Strand Lakeside (7343 Okanagan Landing Rd) were told to evacuate their residence, as combustible gas was found on the plumber含羞草研究社檚 meter.

含羞草研究社淔ortis advises that residents in the West building are not permitted to use appliances, smoke, light candles, until advised,含羞草研究社 an email to residents said. 含羞草研究社淭hey also ask that you open windows and leave the building.含羞草研究社

Fortis B.C. attended the scene and by 5:30 p.m., advised residents that they may return to their room.

Gas supply remains off in the building as the source unit is still being investigated.
