A Salmon Arm radar speed sign was flattened by a driver, though not necessarily as a result of speeding.

On April 1, patrolling RCMP officers located a running Toyota Tundra parked along 20th Avenue SE, east of the 20th Street SE intersection. A man was standing outside the vehicle next to the downed speed sign. Police said the sign appeared to have been struck by the truck.

An approved screening device demand was read to the driver. Two consecutive samples both resulted in fail. Hodges said it was also discovered the truck was without valid insurance. Subsequently, the driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days, and the Tundra was impounded for 30 days. The driver was also served a violation ticket for $598 for no insurance, and the matter was referred to ICBC.
