Letter: Incensed that electric car owners get 'free' fill-ups

Can anyone explain why someone who buys an electric vehicle should get free power via city-owned and supplied º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç˜public charging stationsº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç™?

I read the above-mentioned article in the April 14 edition, and have to say that I am incensed by it!

Can anyone explain why someone who buys an electric vehicle should get free power via city-owned and supplied º¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç˜public charging stationsº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç™?

I have vehicles which get very good fuel-mileage (my motorcycle gets as much as 73 mpgº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç”24 km/l or 4.2l/100 kmº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç”while our car gets as much as 40 mpgº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç”14 km/L or 7 L/100 kmsº¬Ðß²ÝÑо¿Éç”but I do not see anyone lining up city revenues to supply me with gasoline.

How can this story not generate any public opposition?
